The Climb Out of the Canyon...
After a 4 mile wonder down the canyon, we decided that we needed to start looking for the little used exit trail described in the book... Since our map bearer (Dennis) decided to leave the maps in camp we had to go from my memory. Between my memory and Jeff's willingness to climb straight up the canyon wall to explore we found a small trail leading to some more ruins that fit the description I remembered...
This is a ruin we found right after we climbed up to the ledge we needed to be on to get out of the canyon.
This is one of the few pictographs we saw on this trip.
As we were moving along the ledge got really skinny... I looked down and found this stair pecked into the rock. I guess others came this way many years ago.
Humming bird nest.
After a bunch of scrambling and one really wrong turn we finally made it to the top. We stopped on the slick rock to finish off the last of our water and die in peace before our 2 mile trek across the top to the truck.
Once back in camp we all found a place to cool off and rest.
