After Day 1 nobody wanted to move so we had a big breakfast and hung around cam until it got nice and hot. Then we took a hike in the heat out to the canyon behind camp.

Dennis Kelly and Tasley came out to the rim with us then headed for home.

We dropped off the rim trying to find couple of Granaries and a Cave. While searching we found a really nice overhang with flat rocks and a lot of shade where we took a really nice nap.

It was still really hot when we got back to camp so we got in the truck and decided to explore. We found an old jeep trail that took us out to the edge of the canyon we were in the first day.

After looking at this view for a few minutes I realized that the upper ledge is the one we walked on to get out of the canyon into the side canyon above the big pour off.
Notice the ruins on the left. That is the level we were on coming around this point. The last pictures of ruins on the first day are taken here.

We ended up taking the dirt road all the way off the mesa and down into Valley of the Gods.

When we got back to camp Trey decided to get the fire ready to start. The fire had been out for over 20 hours... Trey used some cedar bark for kindling. By the time he got the fire laid we were starting to see some smoke. There was a breeze blowing and before we knew it the kindling burst into flame. Trey was dancing around trying to get everyone to look at his no match fire!!!

Weird shot of the truck using a flash and long exposures.

One more day to go... It was a short one we were just driving near Lake Powell.
