Grand Gulch 2008 Day 1 Part 1

Grand Gulch 2008... This year we decided to car camp and day hike. D-Mo and his little family Kel-Mo and Tay-Mo drove down early to find a camp site in the light. It took them a little longer than anticipated (12 hours???) but they did a great job.
Trey, Jeff and I arrived around midnight, just threw out cots and bags and crashed. Trey didn't want to get up...
We got a late start, but it wasn't to hot yet... so it was OK.

Moon House Ruins, our first destination.

Rusty learned about shade and energy conservation early

Behind this wall was a bunch of rooms
There are so many pictures that I decided to try and post once a day until I get them all uploaded. Come back tomorrow to see more.

Rusty Prepairing for 1st Big Hike

While getting ready for our Hiking trip to the Grand Gulch we decided to see if Rusty liked Jake's old pack. I am afraid he is going to have to grow into it. I can't tell if he was humiliated or just the weight of the pack wore him out. Either way, he wasn't very excited about wearing the pack.

Idiot Day at Bear Lake

So its Sunday and we are cleaning the cabin getting ready to go home. The boys are getting in one more ride before they have to clean up the 4 wheelers. Out "in" the lake there is a dude and a kid in an ATV utility vehicle pretending their in a boat. After about 10 minutes sitting in the lake without moving the Dude gets out and pushes the ATV to shore, they work on it for a few minutes then get it running again. 15 minutes later I look back out there and now some other dude on a 4 wheeler is pretending he is in a boat. He has the ATV so deep that only the handlebars and seat are above water.
His buddies get two more ATVs stuck trying to get out to him then take a 45 minute break to wonder up and down the beach trying to decide what to do.
After dude has sat and stood on the 4 wheeler in the lake for well over an hour his buddies strip down to their underwear and wade out to get him.
Two of them pushed and pulled dude in. Then they sat on the beach for another 45 minutes trying to get the soaked / flooded ATV running. They finally gave up and towed it off.
What are the chances of two separate groups making the same stupid mistake in the same place within 15 minutes of each other???

Trey's B-Day trip to Bear Lake

I don't know if it is the 4th or 5th annual Bear Lake trip for Trey's Birthday, but it seems like we have done this a few times...
We got pizza in Logan to eat while watching the Jazz beat the Rockets to move on in the playoffs.
I loved the colors as the sun was going down. This is where the boys were 70% of the time. They only left to eat, ride 4 wheelers and take care of personal business...

This is where Taylor was 70% of the time...

Trey and Taylor setting up their new backpacking tent.

Nice way to watch TV
Trey having a solitary moment.

4 Wheelers...

Fun was had by all!!!
